We’ve seen recent articles by Bruce Mason and the many posters, tickets for sale and donation cans at local businesses around the Island. Things are in full swing now as we warm up for the huge event. The Jo-Anne Fowler Benefit Concert will be something to talk about for some time.
The Concert will be hosted/emceed by David Soy. There will be a concession featuring pie by the slice from Gwen Smeets of Gwen’s Gourmet Goodies (aka The Pie Lady). We will also have yummy cinnamon buns, chips, granola bars, bottled water, coffee and tea, etc.
There will be a door prize (with your concert ticket), a 50/50 draw and two raffles (tickets will be three for a dollar) with a grand prize draw later in the evening.
There will be a huge silent auction of items from island art to overnight stays at the Fantastic Hummingbird B&B and there are even a couple of massages.
You will be entertained by a wide variety of Gabriola talent. Bob Bossin will be performing with The Gabriola Big Band (Dinah D., Andreas Kahre, Rose Topp, and Bob’s children, Maddy and Davy. Also the Gabriola Barbershop Quartet will be performing (Don Butt, Steve Elder, Dave Hallam and Nigel Hart).
Between Steve Elder and Lou Gradanti the sound and equipment will be taken care of. Lou will be performing with Celeste Mattes, Cathy Tanner and singer-songwriter Andre Nobles.
SAJE, a hot new Gabriola Band, will also perform.
Kathy McIntyre is back from hiatus and is appearing with singer-songwriter and recording artist Victor Anthony, who is also donating to the silent auction.
You don’t want to miss this one, but if something comes up and you can’t make it you can make a donation to the Jo-Anne Fowler Donation Account at the Coastal Community Credit Union #113166.
If you have questions please visit the site www.nathaniel.ca or call Jo-Anne at 247-0214.
The concert is Saturday, March 29th at the Community Hall. Tickets are $12 at Artworks, Raspberry’s Jazz Café, Colleens Home & Fashion Centre and will also be available at the door. Admission is general and families are encouraged to come out and have a great time. The doors open at 6:30 pm and the concert will start around 7. Hope to see you there.
