Gabriolan Doctors are appreciated! At full capacity, Surf Lodge provided an excellent meal and service to honour the medical doctors and their staff on Gabriola. For some doctors it was a farewell, for others with their wives it was an affirmation of the respect and appreciation islanders have for their doctors. For everyone it was a chance to meet and greet at a grand social affair. «more»

Our next No B&W production is Noel Coward’s famous comedy Private Lives, a wonderful vintage piece that continues to amuse and entertain. It does need a very special and experienced cast, which I am delighted to report, we have. The talented trio that performed here in The Love List will be back - Annabel Kershaw, Chris Humphreys and Ian Morton. They will be joined by that multi-talented wild lady - Sarah Rogers. There will be two performances on Gabriola on Saturday, October 4th at 1:30 pm and at 7:00 pm. Tickets will be available shortly and I suggest you get them soon. «more»
Starting October 15th the rules change for homebuyers

NC) - Starting October 15th, 2008, new lending rules require all homebuyers to make a minimum 5% down payment on the purchase of a home. This down payment is required to qualify for mortgage insurance needed for all homebuyers borrowing money from a financial institution with less than a 20% deposit. You will also want to put money aside to cover closing costs including legal fees, moving and other expenses. «more»

On Tuesday, September 23rd, Gabriola RCMP responded to a request to assist the Gabriola Island Volunteer Fire Department in the 300 block of Berry Point Road. Thanks to the quick response and actions of the crew, an intentionally set brush fire that was quickly spreading in the woods approximately 50 feet from the edge of the roadway was knocked down. Anybody who may have seen any suspicious activity in the early afternoon, such as people entering and exiting the area across from the mailboxes located on Berry Point Road near Ricardo Road are asked to call Police or Crimestoppers with any information «more»
