CATS Alive

Yes, in 2016 our volunteer organization will have been helping cats and their people on Gabriola for 20 years.

It all began in 1996 when kind and cat loving Gwen Smeets (along with her mainland fundraising partner Lucille La Frenier) applied for tax status as a charity and needed a name…CATS Alive it was!

Over the past 20 years many people have helped to make lives better for our abandoned and stray cats, and some of the early volunteers were Gerry Bohnet, Regina and Annette Lorek, Liz Ciocea and Francine Trebell.

So to celebrate this upcoming anniversary and the launch of the beautiful 20th anniversary Cats Alive calendar we are having an event! CAT-A-PALOOZA on Friday Nov 6th from 6pm to 9pm at the Hive Emporium.

We will have live entertainment, silent and live auction of fabulous items donated and canvas bags painted by local artists - and of course the freshly off the press 2016 calendars featuring rescue cats of Gabriola.

We will have the silent auction items at the Hive for several days prior to the event, so visit the Hive and check it out.

Many of the people reading this will have cats in their homes and many of those cats are part of those homes because of the efforts of the Cats Alive volunteers so please come out on Friday night, have a ball, bid on some great Christmas gift ideas and support our fundraiser for the upcoming anniversary year!
