The Second Annual Gabriola Cruisers Car Show is coming on Sunday August 14, hosted in the big field behind Twin Beaches Mall.

Lest the name prevent anyone from entering their favourite ride, organizer Kent Moen says all vehicles are welcome to enter.

Cars, trucks, bicycles, tractors - if someone has a ride to shine and show, it’s eligible for the show.

“If it’s unique and you want to show it off, bring out whatever you have in the garage.”

Show time is 12pm to 3pm. Entries are asked to show up starting at 11am.

“We want to increase the trucks and cars and bikes on display. There are 40 members in the Cruisers club, so we’ll have plenty of locals and we have off-islanders planning on bringing vehicles too.

“We would like to see more motorcycles come out, we know there are a number of unique and interesting motorbikes on the island.”

Membership in the Gabriola Cruisers is $25 per year, and membership includes free entry for the annual show.

For non-members to have a vehicle in the show, the fee is $15.

Spectators get in for free.

In addition to the show, the Gabriola Lions will be present with their BBQ, and a 50/50 draw, all of the proceeds again going back to the Lions. Last year’s show proved popular, raising $1,000 for the Gabriola Lions Club. There is a Best in Show trophy up for grabs, as well as draw prizes for entrants. The Gabriola Cruisers meet on the final Thursday of every month. Fred Withey is in charge of membership.
