A head’s up to anyone looking to drop in to the Sounder office this week. Due to the Thanksgiving Weekend, our office will be closed on Friday, October 11. The deadline for submitting materials for the October 14 edition will be Thursday October 13 at noon. The PHC Think-giving fundraising push has led to 20 new $10 a month donors and five one-time donations, some those donations from outside the Gabriola community. A link to the Think-giving online video is here. Head to the PHC donation page here.

This coming Saturday is the final Farmers’ Market at the Agi Hall till the May Long Weekend of 2014. 10am till 1pm.

With the end of Farmers Market season, there can be only one thing coming around the corner....the Craft Fairs are coming! Watch the Events Calendar for the dates, the first ones are usually in the middle of November.

Local resident Simon Reeves competed in the Kelowna Peak to Beak 18km race on Sunday Sept 22, 2013, where there were over 160 competitors in the race. Simon placed 7th over all, and 2nd in his age division.  Simon ran the 1st Peak to Peak (as it was known then) race with his father 31 years ago.

For those making plans for Halloween, the Fire Department has announced the Fireworks will be held on November 1st this year, rather than on October 31st. More details, and coverage of the Fire Hall Grand Opening coming in the September 14 Sounder next week.
