The Gabriola Power Squadron are will help you prepare for your boating season by offering a free courtesy check of your vessel.  A safety inspection sticker is handed out on successful inspection or recommendations offered to get your boat running safely this season. We will be at Silva Bay, Page’s and Degnen Bay Marinas on June 21 from 9-1. Should another time work for you, give us a call to book your safety check. PHC’s monthly Seniors’ Luncheon is coming up in a couple of weeks on Thursday, June 26. Those attending (as well as islanders in general) are encouraged to wear purple on the 26th in support of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (held annually on June 15 since 2006). Deborah Hollins, the executive director of Nanaimo Family Life is coming to present on the BC Community Response Network (BCCRN). PHC is the new Community Response Network designated for Gabriola. A CRN is the hub for a coordinated community response to adult abuse neglect and self-neglect. Deborah will be speaking from 11:00 to about 11: 20ish.  The lunch is served from 11:30 to 12:00ish. The luncheon is open to all seniors of Gabriola as well as their guests. Contact Maggie Mooney, PHC Circle of Care Program Coordinator at 250-247-7311 for more details.

Once again, officials with the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure will be meeting the public on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Agi Hall to discuss issues relating to Gabriola roads. This meeting is sponsored by the Gabriola Transportation Association and the Gabriola Ratepayers Association.
