Gabriola’s Adin Brenner continues to win a gymnastics, while at the same time expanding the sports he is competing in.

Brenner took home two championship medals March 8 at the BC High School Gymnastics Championships held in Delta, he was representing Nanaimo District Secondary School (NDSS).

Brenner finished first in floor events and vault. He also went home with a silver in the all-round competition, as well as second place in rings, parallel bars, pommel horse, and high bar.

That put him at the top of the results list, which earned him a $3,850 Gymnast  Alumni Bursaary of British Columbia.

His mom Mara said while Adin has been very successful in gymnastics throughout his childhood, there aren’t any  NCAA options for trampoline, and NCAA Artistic options are very few, “and not appealing to him.

“He wants to be on Gabriola, not in Texas! He wants to do many more sports.”

Brenner is currently plaing in the AAA baseball league in Nanaimo, and will be looking to play more soccer in the fall.

He’s also planning on playing his rookie year in the Gabriola Slo-Pitch League this year, signing up with his parents’ team the Stinkin’ Otters.

Mara said Brenner’s future plans for education are to start at Vancouver Island University in the Phys. Ed Department.

“Of course gymnastics will continue to be in his life and may possibly include coaching.

“He just wants to play and have some fun and see where it goes. Team Canada is a huge amount of pressure and there have been no breaks  in the past 5 years..,.or really since grade 3.”
