Chinook fishing rebounded last week, with some nice catches being had off Thrasher, Grande to Whalebone, and the Flat Tops. I got frustrated with all the 8 to 10 inch coho hitting small spoons, so switched over to 3 to 5 inch Tomic plugs. These worked great! We had some three-fish days with the fish running 12 to 17 pounds. The chinook fight very differently with no flasher obstructing them, and tend to fight laterally, away from the boat, very similar to catching them on jigs. Flashers and spoons and hoochies are still producing well, with the Evil Eye, Cop Car, and Pink Sink patterns of Silver Horde, or the T-Rex or Blue Meany hoochies being favourites.

There are a few coho and pinks around, but not in the numbers we expected. The coho are about six pounds now, and are gorgeous fish.

Ling fishing is ongoing at Thrasher and Entrance Reef. Try plastics, bait or jigs in depths of 35 to 70 feet.

Prawning is very good, expect 100 per trap. Tuna cat food fished on the 350 foot contour off the Flat Tops will get the desired results.

Good fishing!
