Thrasher is producing some great catches of chinook in the 8 to 14 pound range. The depths are very similar to summer fishing. We’re fishing in 160 to 180 feet of water off the Vancouver side of the hook, with downrigger depths ranging from 140 to 160 feet.

There are plentiful bait schools of 3-inch herring for them to feed upon. Lures of note include anchovy in clear green scale Rhys Davis teasers, spoons in Silver/Blue or Evil Eye, or the T-Rex hoochie. All the fish we encountered were bright-red fleshed, but there are reports of whites in the mix also. The Grande seems to have tapered off temporarily, and Neck Point is showing undersized to legals at about a 10 to 1 ratio.

Prawning is still very good off the Flat Tops. Please throw back the spawners, as we are encountering about five per trap.

Have a very Merry Christmas, and a delightful New Year!
