Fishing Report for February 13, 2012
Bob is currently overseas in Thailand and sent this fishing report from there: We took the fast cat from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui, stayed a couple of days, then took a very B.C. car ferry-like ship to Khanom. There were very few tourists here. Ten miles of sand beach, with maybe 15 people on it! Very beautiful bungalos with carved driftwood sinks, terrific bed, air conditioning, cable TV and big verandas for $21 a night, including breakfast! The surrounding waters have pink dolphins present, so we jumped into a fantail boat and cruised the shoreline. Huge pink and orange limestone cliffs line the water, and we went to a small island Buddhist monument with bronze statues that was incredible. We only saw one pink dolphin, but upon leaving, saw a whole school right at the ferry dock!
Back on Gabriola: Clyde Wicks reports legal chinook being taken at the Grande and Thrasher. Depths range 140 to 180 feet. Prawning is terrific off the Flat Tops. Try 350 feet with good old tuna cat food as bait. Good fishing!
