Chinook fishing is good at Thrasher, the Flat Tops, Grande to Waterfall, and Entrance Reef. Depths range from 135 feet to the bottom in 140 to 220 feet of water. Lures of choice include Rhys Davis teasers in green/chartreuse, spoons in Evil Eye, Pink Sink, Kitchen Sink, or hoochies in T-Rex or Blue Meany. Most of the fish are in the 10 to 15 pound range, and fight very hard.

The coho are to be found west of Thrasher, and off the Fingers. Try the downriggers at 65 to 85 feet, with three-inch Evil Eye or Killy McGee spoons on four-foot leaders trolled at 2.5 knots.

Ling and rockfish are found at Gabriola and Entrance Reef. Try 35 to 100 feet with large bait, jigs or plastics as bait.

Prawning is okay off the Flat Tops, and is still in recovery mode after the commercial onslaught. Try tuna cat food fished on the 350 to 400 foot contour for the “sea bugs.”

Good fishing!
