What a random week for chinook fishing! Early in the week we were fishing Whalebone, and keeping one or two chinook per trip in the 17 to 22 pound range. It hiccupped mid week, then Thurs the 26th we hooked 18 chinook, most of which were undersized, but fantastic action. Friday, the fishing went back to asleep at the wheel! Such an odd year, with no consistency whatsoever! Grande to Whalebone and Neck Point/Brickyard have been good part of the time. Going to try Thrasher this week to see if the fish have moved in there. Bottombouncing in 120 to 160 feet of water has been my method of choice. Lures include the Pink Sink and Mongoose, or the T-Rex hoochie.
Ling fishing is good when tides and wind permits. Try large jigs, plastics or bait at 50 to 100 feet for best results.
Prawning is mediocre to good. Expect 50 to 100 prawns per trap.
Good fishing!
