Going into the derby weekend the Chinook fishing picked up a bit. Grande through Whalebone, The Money Hole, and the Flat Tops are producing some fish in the mid to high teens. The winds are supposed to lay down a bit this year-hope that is true! Looking forward to a super time seeing old friends, and telling new fish stories. Baits of interest this week are Rhys Davis teasers in clear green scale, or green/chartreuse, The Killy MaGee, Evil Eye, Watermelon, Pink Sink, Mongoose, or Cop Car spoons, or the green spackleback or Blue Meany hoochie. The fish are stratified with the bait schools, so keep an eye on the sounder, and follow the bait depth. Bottombouncing is still working in the 160 to 180 foot depths Grande to Whalebone.

Ling fishing is still worthwhile off Gabriola and Entrance Reefs. Try large bait, jigs, or plastics in the 35 to 70 foot depth range. Please remember to limit your kill!

The commercial prawners are done wreaking their havoc this week. It will take at least a month to recover.

Good fishing!
