Chinook fishing remains blistering hot, if you hit the bite times correctly. Last Saturday I started on my deep water marks (straight out from Silva Bay in 650 feet of water), trolled down and around the structure at Thrasher, and down to the red can in 160 feet of water. We caught 9 Chinook to 20 pounds in that tack. The next day I went out and repeated the process, and only came away with three lovely Chinook, and actually felt the fishing was slow. We’re actually getting jaded by the great fishing, as normally a three fish day is pretty darn good! There are fish at Grande to waterfall now, too. Fish the 160 foot contour at 120 to 140 with Pink Sink, or Evil Eye spoons in that area. The bite times are fussy sometimes. The Cabezon hit the water at 5:30 Sunday morning, and fished until 8 with no results. He came back at 8:30 with family, and caught 5 fish in an hour. So, the fish are there, they just have to be on the feed for good results.

Ling are open, as are rockfish. Try the 35 to 70 foot contours are Gabriola or Entrance Reef with large bait, jigs, or plastics for the tasty white fish.

The party is over prawning. The commercials are out, so I’m closing up shop for a couple of months.

Good fishing!
