Chinook fishing is superb from Grande to waterfall, and offshore Thrasher to Entrance. Try fishing the 160 to 180 foot depths at the Grande, with downrigger depths 120 feet to the bottom. From Thrasher to Entrance, fish the 600 to 800 foot water depths, with downriggers set at 120 to 180 feet. Spoons in Evil Eye, Killy MaGee, or Pink Sink, or hoochies in Blue Meany or T-Rex are lures of choice. For some reason, the three inch spoons have been more productive than the 3.5’s or 4 inchers over the past week.

Ling fishing is ongoing at Entrance and Gabriola Reef. Try large bait, plastics, or jigs at 35 to 125 feet for best results.

Hatchery Coho should open June 1st for retention, but be sure to check local (area 17) regulations before retaining any Coho. Maybe D.F.O. will surprise us, and let us keep one wild Coho per person this year. Wouldn’t that be sweet!

The commercial prawners are out, so I’m in.

  Good fishing!
