Clyde Wicks worked his magic again, and raised $9,700 for the Nanaimo River Hatchery through tackle sales and donations. This, combined with the Silva Bay Salmon Derby money, gives the hatchery almost $15,000 for much needed equipment to continue their important work. Thank you to all who donated, and to those who attended and supported the event. The Cabezon said his little fingerlings had a ball releasing smolts and making fish prints. Good job!

Chinook fishing remains in its same pattern - lots of “undies” with few keepers. Try Grande to Waterfall, or Thrasher, in depths of 150 to 250 feet of water. Spoons in Evil Eye or Silver/Blue have been great for me. Downrigger depths range from 140 to the bottom.

Prawning has been great. Try 400 feet off the Flat Tops with tuna cat food as bait. Expect at least 100 per trap.

Good fishing!
