Not much news to report locally, as hardly anyone is fishing in this weather. The chum are still streaming in, and you can try for them fishing small pink/purple or pink hoochies “sockeye style”. This means short (24 inch) leaders, lots of gear in the water, trolling slow and straight. The chum jump and roll simultaneously, so they are easy to spot. There may be some early chinook off the Grande. Try fishing close to the bottom in 135 to 180 feet of water with glow green/silver or black/ white Coyotes as bait.
Prawning is good off the Flat Tops. Try tuna cat food fished at 350 feet for best results.
The Nanaimo S.F.A.B. meeting is to be held at 7 o’clock at Nanaimo Fish and Game Club October 24th if you are interested in attending.
Good fishing!
