The Gabriola Museum hosted a very successful Trivia Night - its signature annual fundraising event - on November 2 at the Community Hall.

There was a full house of participants with 20 teams ready to compete for the grand prize. Museum President, Joan Merrifield, opened the evening by acknowledging the hard work and efforts of the many volunteers involved in organizing the evening, and the tremendous support from the Gabriola community.

Master of Ceremonies, local historian Danna Lewis, kept the crowd entertained with trivia questions ranging from past history to current events to natural history. This year, participants also completed a team crossword puzzle and identified examples of Gabriola’s flora and fauna.

A brisk live auction of donated baskets and exceptional cakes called out by volunteer auctioneer, Graham Bradley of Good Earth Farms and assisted by Scott Colbourne, Gabriola`s Island Trust representative, also added to the excitement of the evening, as did the many wonderful silent auction items available for bidding. And, of course, the desserts donated by many volunteers kept everyone sustained and the energy high.

Congratulations to the Trivia Night 2019 winning team which consisted of Alison Douglas, Steve Struthers, Ivan Bulic, Elaine Johnston, Bill Cornish and Annette Warwick. A heartfelt thanks to the continuing generosity of the community who volunteered, donated or who simply came to have to some fun and support the museum - over $7, 000 was raised for museum programs and activities.

Thank you Gabriola!
