This summer, the Gabriola Recreation Society is offering a variety of programs for all ages.

Some have already started, like the swimming camps (seen right, Derek Kilbourn photo)

Adult programs include Zumba (Latin-inspired dance) and Cardio Blast with Veronique Rioux every Wednesday, both offering a fun total body workout.

If you prefer a non-cardio class, Adult ‘Essentials’ on Thursday with trainer Lesley Standerwick is the right option for you, with a focus on developing core strength.

Want to improve your golf game? CPGA teaching pro Kelvin Trott from Eaglequest will instruct Adult Golf lessons every Monday, as well as Junior Golf (ages 8-17).

To kick the summer off for kids, Tennis Camp (ages 8+) with instructor Virginia Ebbels, Spanish Camp (ages 6-10) with Tara Swanson, and Multi-Sport camp with GRS staff will take place July 2-5.

From July 8 to 12, ‘Games Week,’ (ages 8-13) with Lorraine Price, a long-time physical education teacher and coach, offers a combination of minor games with major sports. Adventure Camp (ages 6-12) with GRS staff also runs July 8-12, and includes nature expeditions, orienteering and scavenger hunts.

For kids looking to get creative, Art Camps with instructor Erin Mancor will run for various ages throughout the summer, with projects ranging from tie-dye to driftwood creations.

For preschoolers, early childhood educator Jet Carruthers will be running ‘SPARTS’ throughout the summer, a program that is part sports and part art, and focuses on skill development with co-operative games and activities.

We have many more programs available, so please contact us for further information at 250-247-2014, or visit our website,
