From the Gabriola Recreation office at the south end of Gabriola Elementary School, an air of anxious excitement has been notably building in the classrooms of our northern neighbours.

Anticipation is bubbling for long days at the beach, barbeques in the shade and most of all, Gabriola Recreation Society summer camps. This summer, the GRS is back with a plethora of camps from our wonderful instructors, including some all time favourties and some exciting new camps.

We have just added a new camp to our summer schedule, adventure bike week. Adventure Bike Week is running July 18-22 9:30am-12pm and will give kids a chance to explore the trails of Gabriola, while participating in a fun, new activity each day. Plant and animal identification, mapping and forest games are just some of the activities planned for the week. Kids must have their own bike and helmet and be comfortable riding. Another addition we have for this summer is Sports for Shorts, to be run by physical literacy specialist and Gym Jam instructor, Jenny Ivany. This camp focuses on getting kids age 3-5 moving through a variety of games and activities. Along with these new additions, there is still space in yoga camp, which allows a parent to attend the class with their child for free, as well as learn machine sewing, ocean camp, drama camp and many more.
