The sun smiled and a light breeze blew on Twin Beaches as preparations were made for the second annual Gabriola Tai Chi picnic on the beach. Close to fifty people attended the picnic. They came from as far away as Campbell River and Comox, with many from Parksville and Nanaimo. The picnic was hosted by the Gabriola Tai Chi Club whose members also provided “taxi service” to and from the ferry for our visitors. The afternoon began with a Tai Chi set on the beach. This was followed by a delicious lunch which was served by the Gabriola members and very much appreciated by all. After lunch, the instructors led a two-hour workshop which resulted in many enlightened moments and which will undoubtedly enhance our Tai Chi practice during the winter months ahead. The workshop was followed by another set on the beach. This final set, due to the changing tides, was partly in the water. A mad dash to catch the ferry ended a very enjoyable and convivial afternoon. We look forward to a repeat performance next year.
