The Gabriola Auxiliary is pleased and excited to announce they will be re-introducing the Meals on Wheels program by the third week of November.
The program has not been available on our island for the past seven years, and we will start with our volunteers delivering the meals prepared at the Kiwanis House kitchen in Nanaimo, off the 3:45 p.m. ferry on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays only, until we can establish a larger clientele based on needs.
We thank the island for their support of the GABE Shop, which has allowed us to implement MOW and Drivers to Doctors services several months earlier than we had projected.
To get the meals rolling along, the auxiliary is hosting a MOW Launching Dinner, open to everyone, on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 4:30 p.m. at the Rollo Seniors’ Centre (by suggested donation of $5.50).
Forms were passed out at PHC’s Seniors’ Circle of Care lunch this past Thursday. The form and brochures about Nanaimo Meals on Wheels contact information are also available at the PHC Resource Centre, The Haven and the GABE Shop.
