Wednesday’s Market at the Commons is now in the third year of its mandate to help support local food growers by providing a middle-of-the-week outlet to sell produce at its freshest.

After an unusually prolonged cold and wet winter, with planting set weeks behind normal scheduling, the farmers are now racing against double-sized weeds to get the early harvests to market.

Crisp leafy greens, spinach, green onions, rhubarb, strawberries, asparagus, eggs .... You’ll find these and more as the season progresses. We welcome produce from small-scale growers and allotment holders who find themselves with an oversupply in their own gardens. We’re also an outlet for people wishing to donate tools to the Tool Library. Phone Judith at 247-9948 if you have questions.

Come by the Timber Frame on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 pm and enjoy the laid-back ambience, with room for kids to play while you get to know the farmers. We’re planning to increase our parking area, with help from the Village Food Market’s Community Card. Thanks to VFM and to all who are choosing to fund this project at the Commons.

A final note: GERTIE’s summer schedule now provides midday bus service to the market on Wednesdays!
