The organizers of the Farm to Table event are excited to announce that they are contributing to the future health and wellbeing of island youth.

All proceeds raised at this year’s event will be donated to the Gabriola Skatepark Fundraising Association’s (GSFA) Keep on Pushin’ Campaign.

The Regional District of Nanaimo has given the GSFA until April of 2019 to raise $72,000 to be put towards the construction of a skatepark in the northeast corner of Huxley Park.

Lynn Bowerman, coordinator for F2T said, “The Farm to Table event feels blessed to be able to contribute and collaborate with an island initiative that has been a long-time dream.

“In this transition year we were still looking for a way to give back and this was a great fit for a good cause.”

Dave Reid, President of the GSFA, said, “The GSFA is happy to be partnering with the F2T team this year. F2T is such a community-oriented event, a celebration of the end of another summer on Gabriola.

“All of the local businesses/organizations that support F2T and see the need for the skatepark to happen are contributing in ways that work for them.

“We appreciate the continued support from such a wide demographic of islanders.”

Julie Sperber, GSFA board member, said, “Health and wellness are linked in many ways. This year at the F2T we can celebrate eating local food, gathering with our fellow islanders, and helping support a new place for all of us to be active and thrive in.”

Dinner (including concert) tickets are all sold out. People can still join the festivities though by purchasing a concert ticket which includes a local dessert. Concert tickets go on sale this Monday, June 9, at North Road Sports, Wishbone, and Colleens for $25.
