Adin Brenner is once again heading for an international competition as a member of Team Canada.

His mother Mara said that “after another very successful Nationals he was selected to Team Canada for the second straight year and will join the delegation for the Indo-Pacific Championships in New Zealand in October.”

This is the highest level international meet available for Adin’s age this year.

Adin said, “It’s hard to describe [compared to last year].

“It’s more exciting in a way than worlds last year because I feel so much more ready.

“Last year it all happened so quickly and unexpectedly and now I feel I’m ahead of the game in a way...even though I’ve moved up an age division and I’m the youngest.”

In August, Adin will be attending a National training camp and will also be adding more hours to his training in Nanaimo and also in Vancouver.

Last year, he competed with Team Canada in Portugal and Denmark.

He said the 2015 competitions “didn’t feel like a competition until the competition day. It was all so new and different. Since it was my first year competing internationally I didn’t know what to expect. I will have to do less mental preparation this time.”

Adin will be competing in the double mini trampoline, his favourite event.

In 2015, he placed second at nationals in the under 17 division and this year was 4th in the 15 and over division, even though he was only 14.

He earned a team bronze in Portugal and finished 13th at World Age Groups (like worlds but for juniors) in Denmark.

A flip-a-thon fundraiser is being planned for Saturday, August 6, from 10:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Adin’s home and the whole community is invited. Address: 1030 Descanso Valley Drive.

Adin will take pledges for each flip and see how many he can do from noon to 1pm.

Woodfire Restaurant has kicked off the fundraising with a Chiopinno fundraiser where $251 was raised.

For those who wish to help Adin but won’t be attending the flip-a-thon, the Gabriola branch of the Coastal Community Credit Union has an account set up to take donations.
