Gabriola gymnast Adin Brenner is officially back on top of the Canadian standings, ranked first in the country for the third consecutive year.

He has been officially selected to be part of the Junior National Team and the team to WAGS (WORLDS for Juniors, i.e. World Age Groups).

What is incredible is this comes after he tore his quadriceps on May 5.

His mother Mara Brenner says he is back in full competitive form, but would never have gotten ready to be medically cleared without the help of two Gabriola professionals.

Dr. Chad Arsenault with Gabriola Chiropractic and D’Arcy Boulton with Bastion Physiotherapy. (seen left with Adin)

Calling them the “Gabriola Uber-professionals,” Mara said the two treated Adin on a daily basis and, as a result, he was able to compete in all his events at the Nationals.

“They were both incredible. D’Arcy even came in extra early on Father’s Day, before his girls were awake, treated Adin, and still made it home so his girls could give him breakfast in bed.”

Adin came home from Ontario with a bronze medal for team tumbling.

“He’s all healed up and training for Bulgaria in November for World Age Group competitions.”

As those who have helped Adin before are well aware, competing is not cheap, and Adin is again fundraising. He’ll need to hit a target of $20,000 to get him through the next season.

This will enable him to travel across the country and to Europe, representing Canada.

One of this year’s fundraisers is going to be a Paint Night.

Paint Nights are a fundraiser gaining popularity, where a professional instructor gives each participant a canvas, paint and brushes, then demos and teaches the group as they each paint the same picture in two hours.

Open to all ages (even children), the event to support Adin will be at his parents’ home on Gabriola, and will include a silent auction and a flip-a-thon from Adin, as well as other fun activities.

Tickets are $55 and can be purchased at North Road Sports or the Gabriola Fitness Centre.

A minimum of 20 tickets need to be sold by August 11 to ensure the August 27 event takes place.

For those not able to attend the Paint Night Party but who would like to contribute, Adin’s account at the Coastal Community Credit Union on Gabriola is open.

Donations by etransfer, air miles, and silent auction donations can be arranged via email at info@maragoldtheatre.com
