Canada Post parcel boxes at North Road and Peterson broken into

Sounder News

Sunday, December 20 2020

The postal boxes on North Road at the junction with Peterson Road were broken into this past Friday, with the contents of any of the ‘parcel delivery’ boxes removed by the thieves.

Cpl. Jordan Mullen, Detachment Commander for Gabriola RCMP confirmed the break-in happened sometime overnight between Friday, December 18 and Saturday, December 19.

Mullen added, “Gabriola RCMP would remind people to check mail regularly, as it appears the parcel boxes were targeted.”

One of the persons who had a parcel taken contacted the Sounder, saying the box to their parcel had been found on Sunday, along with other parcel boxes scattered (and empty) on North Road. In the parcel - and now stolen - was to have been a brand new GoPro Hero8, with accessory package.

Police are asking if anyone has information regarding the thefts, to contact the Gabriola RCMP at 250-247-8333 or Nanaimo Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit an anonymous tip online at nanaimocrimestoppers.com
