Jason Cramer will be in court for the preliminary inquiry into the murder of Elaine Schwartz and stabbing of her son, Trevor, scheduled to begin Oct. 19.
Cramer appeared this past Tuesday morning by video conference and both prosecution and defence teams indicated they were ready to begin the hearing process.
A focus hearing is scheduled for July 24 for the prosecution and defence teams. The purpose of a focus hearing is for the prosecution, defence and judge to go over the witness, evidence and other material lists that will be presented at the preliminary hearing.
The Nanaimo Law Courts have reserved court time for the preliminary hearing for Oct. 19, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26.
Jason Daniel Cramer, 37, was charged Aug. 5, 2011 with one count of second degree murder for the Aug. 3, 2011 death of Elaine Schwartz, age 50, and one count of attempted murder in the attack on her 18-year-old son, Trevor Schwartz, on the same day.
Cramer has been in custody in Victoria since Aug. 5, appearing by video conference for court proceedings so far.
