Twin Beaches Centre is under new ownership, with Dr. Bob Rooks purchasing the property and buildings from long-time owner Kelly Brooks.

Rooks will take ownership on July 1, 2018.

The sale includes all of the property which has Twin Beaches Mall on it.

In selling the property, Kelly Brooks said it has been 22 years of fun, but it was time for someone else to take on the job.

“We came to a mutual understanding, and I’m looking forward to seeing what Bob does with the place.”

According to Rooks, Sheila Easthom built he original store on the site in 1966.

Asked why he was purchasing Twin Beaches, Rooks said, “It is a good investment with great potential for the future, especially with the improved access when the new Spruce-Church road is completed.”

He said he plans to keep things as they are for now. “I will assess the needs of the current tenants and look at development options for the future.”

All of the tenants have been notified of the sale, and will be staying in place.

Rooks said any of the events planned for Twin Beaches property - such as the annual Gabriola Cruisers Car Show coming up on August 12 - will still be happening on the property.

According to the Gabriola Official Community Plan, Twin Beaches is one of 30 properties on Gabriola classified as commercial. The property is zoned as District Commercial 1 (DC1) and stretches from the front driveway on Berry Point Road to where the property connects with King Road.
