ROAD CLOSURE
Section of Harrison Way to be closed for road repairs. Detours in place till July 18.

Mayday at the Community Hall provided a space for an afternoon of genuine community. Held under the Lund pavilion the May Day bring your own picnic hosted by the Gabriola Island Community Hall Association brought young and old together. Jay Bird and her merry group of ‘Uke-ladies’ performed, a craft station was available with fresh and decorative flowers. Don Burskirk encouraged 20 participants under firm warnings of garden failure into a most successful May Pole Dance, and followed with a few of community dances. GROWLS and Gabriola Players collaborated with a puppet show written by Iain Lawrence. Bagpiper Duncan Low led the cast and audience in a short walking parade celebrating island animals with GROWLS animal puppets. Sarah Holmes photo
