One person flown to Victoria with injuries after July 3 fire

Gabriola RCMP have confirmed one person was injured in a house fire early in the morning on July 3.

Cpl. Nathan Dame said RCMP were called out at 4:20am to assist with a structure fire on Barrett road.

They arrived on scene to find Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department and BC Ambulance already on scene.

“RCMP can confirm that the fire crews were first on scene and were able to rescue the female occupant,” Dame said.

The female was taken by BC Ambulance by helicopter and flown to hospital in Victoria with non-life threatening injuries. 

The RCMP is treating the fire as suspicious and will be investigating the cause.
