The Li’l Market at Page’s Resort & Marina has opened at the south end of Gabriola Island to serve boaters, campers, cottagers and the community alike. Besides regular grocery items, the Resort store has partnered with Gabriolan businesses to feature locally produced and created foods.

“With over 15,000 visitors annually to the Silva Bay area, we needed to find a way to bring the fabulous products of Gabriolan food makers right to them on the docks.” said Gloria Hatfield, owner of Page’s Resort.

“The Li’l Market is a small space dedicated to quality items and showcasing Gabriolan talent; a priority for us.”

Chris and Sharon Hooton, owners of Woodfire Restaurant - which is known for its outstanding menu - have created ready-made meals such as Chef’s Sirloin Steaks marinated in Woodfire’s Coffee Chili Cocoa Rub and woodfired, slow-roasted Pork Ribs paired with their signature BBQ sauce.

Slow Rise Bakery, a local organic, artisan bakery with a hand-build wood-fired oven, supplies breads and scones. Red Roaster, a family run micro-roaster, produces Gabriolan coffee blends.

As well, the Gabriolan Food Hub, a local business that brings together the island’s farmers, provides an abundance of vegetable crops.

Working with Woodfire Restaurant and other Gabriolan food producers has provided to the continuous growth of Page’s Resort.

In previous years Page’s has added Jim’s Kayaking and Go Fish Charters to the offerings at the Marina. For over 30 years the Resort has featured books by local authors and illustrators.

“Showcasing other Gabriolan entrepreneurs is exciting and rewarding” says Hatfield. “Not only are we welcoming visitors to our suites and cottages, but we get to share the full flavour of Gabriola that we love and cherish.”
