Detachment Commander, Gabriola RCMP

10 calls for service.

A reminder that the school zones are in effect until December 22nd.  It finally has slowed down for us so we will be there more often with our happy smiling faces hoping that you have slowed down too.

Dec. 3 - A report that a male asking for nude photos of females via facebook. The complainant was smart and did the right thing not sending any photos, reporting the situation to the police. I want to remind everyone that everything you send on the internet is there forever, even on snapchat or instagram. If you ask an underage person for nude photos even when you are the same age it will still be considered a criminal offence.  My advice would be to not send anything to anyone you don’t want everyone to see.

Dec. 4 - Elmer Fudd on Gabriola Island again. A suspicious vehicle was reported to the Gabriola RCMP on some private property. The RCMP located the suspects who were trying to hunt illegally.

The suspect hunter stated,”You’re no shewiff! You’re that scwewy wabbit!”

Of course the hunters were mistaken and Cst. Wabbit seized all their hunter gear.

Dec. 8 - Report of a theft. A gas powered Stihl leaf blower was taken from the back of the complainant’s truck while parked near the post office.  Someone did not read last week’s report about leafing property alone that is not theirs. I am just blown away with the fact that the suspect did not understand this concept.

Smile, you’re on candid camera. The Gabriola RCMP were called to a residence as a security camera was triggered on a vacation home.

The owner of the residence stated that a person with two dogs had walked up to the home and started to look through the windows. No damage was done or any attempts to gain access were observed. Always make sure to smile as you never know who is watching!
