RCMP Report - Jan. 23 to Feb. 3

Cpl. Nathan Dame

Detachment Commander Gabriola RCMP

Tuesday, February 6 2018

January 30 - Driving while impaired by lab. An impaired driver complaint was received just after 12:00 p.m. The vehicle was located and the driver spoken to. The driver stated that his black lab had become excited as they approached their residence and he was trying to calm the lab down. If you have ever owned a lab you can appreciate what was transpiring inside of the vehicle.

January 31 - Meanwhile…in Nanaimo. We, the Gabriola RCMP, share the radio with the Nanaimo RCMP and hear some interesting stuff from time to time. A call was received by Nanaimo of a male who was swinging on tree branches with his pants down. My first thoughts were, what is Spiderman doing with his pants down. They did find the friendly neighbourhood spider man a short time later and found that he did not have a belt for his pants. Unfortunately, Spidey could not explain why he was swinging from tree branches.

While conducting school zone enforcement, Cst. Hilland observed a near miss with a cyclist. A vehicle was attempting to make a turn into the school when the cyclist travelled past the vehicle’s passenger side. The driver of the vehicle did a shoulder check and stopped in time. We would like to thank this driver and remind cyclists that you are considered a motor vehicle and therefore must abide by those laws.

From your friendly neighbourhood Corporal Nathan Dame.
