RCMP Report: July 10 to July 16

Tuesday, July 18 2017

20 investigations responded to by the Gabriola RCMP.

As most of you may know BC has declared a state of emergency for the fires burning in the province. If you see anyone burning a fire or throwing a cigarette out of their car report it to the RCMP or Gabriola Fire Department.

July 10 - The Gabriola RCMP is investigating a report that 6 fishing down riggers had been stolen off different boats from the docks at Page’s Inn. The thefts believed to have occurred over the weekend. The RCMP is asking for any information on these thefts.

July 11 - A red medical cart was reported to be abandoned on North RD just before the “S” curves. A search of the area revealed that no one had fallen and could not get up. Yes in other towns having a medical cart parked on the shoulder of the road with nothing else around would be strange. But we reside on Gabriola Island.

July 14 - A report of a possible impaired driver was reported to the RCMP. It was found that the vehicle was in the ferry line up.

The driver had been dancing around while hootin and hollerin to keep the child awake until they drove onto the ferry. There will be none of those shenanigans on this Island!  Just kidding.

Have fun and dance all summer.
