RCMP Report Oct. 31 - Nov. 6

Cpl. Nathan Dame

Detachment Commander, Gabriola RCMP

Tuesday, November 8 2016

Nov. 1 - 1am the Gabriola RCMP responded to a report of a domestic assault on South Rd. The RCMP were unable to locate the male and female.

Nov. 1 - at 6am an abandoned 911 call was received. The RCMP attended and confirmed that there were no problems. Just a reminder that if you dial 911 and hang up the police will still show up.

Nov. 2 - a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while backing out of a parking stall. The pedestrian received minor injuries. Always be aware of your surroundings whether you are driving or a pedestrian.

Nov. 2 - A Landlord/ Tenant dispute was received on November 2. Landlord had been entering the rented suite without proper notice. As a landlord or a tenant research what your rights are before you do anything. There is potential for the criminal offence of “Unlawfully in a Dwelling House” to have occurred.

Nov. 3 - A traffic stop on November 3 was conducted for failing to stop at a stop sign. The driver was found to be a prohibited driver. Driver issued a prohibited driver notice of suspension.

Nov. 6 - 3:30pm the Gabriola RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Coats Rd. The driver sustained minor injuries but was transported to the hospital for observations. No alcohol was involved but speed was a factor.

The Gabriola RCMP has been conducting road safety check stops with our main focus on impaired driving. The check stops will become more frequent as we get closer to the Christmas Holidays. We have also been spending  time at the school zone enforcing the speed limit and checking the ferry line up for illegal U-Turns.

Remembrance Day ceremonies will be held at the Gabriola Detachment at 525 South Rd on Friday November 11. Ceremonies will be starting at 10:50am. Please arrive earlier so that the ceremonies are not disturbed. There will be no parking in the detachment and it is recommended to park in a safe spot then walk to the Detachment.
