Two persons dead following construction accident on Berry Point Road

Two men have died after a construction accident in the 400 block of Berry Point Road.

Gabriola RCMP, firefighters with the Gabriola Volunteer Fire Department, and BC Ambulance paramedics were called to the scene just after 10:45am on March 16.

Media representatives for the RCMP stated that the boom of a concrete pump-truck broke and landed on the two persons.

Additional ambulance units from Nanaimo arrived by ferry, and two helicopters from BC Emergency Health Services landed at the field behind Twin Beaches Mall.

BC Coroners Service and Work Safe BC are engaged and will be conducting parallel investigations into the cause of death.
