Exploring the cost of a pool a good place to start

The idea of a pool for Gabriola is an idea worth exploring.

If only so that we can decide, as an island, if it really is too expensive for us and if islanders really want to have one.

Lots of people would like a pool, but how many of us want to pay for it? Before many of us can answer that, we need to know how much it will cost.

And what’s too expensive? By the standards of the family paying $400 or more in ferry fees to get their children to lessons in Nanaimo, the idea of an increase in property taxes doesn’t sound too bad.

Location, cost, and the desire of the island to have such a facility needs to be talked about, by everyone, and if the support is there, then build it. If not, at least we’ll have had the conversation.
