Letter: Church connector does more than provide fast emergency response

Tuesday, June 14 2016

I would like to address an issue that relates to the proposed road connecting Spruce and Church. Such a road will dramatically increase the amount of traffic travelling between Berry Point Road and Spruce Avenue, a route that includes the dangerous Norwich Hill. This hill is extremely steep, with several blind spots and a sharp curve. It’s treacherous, even in good weather conditions. It also doesn’t have shoulders, putting the large number of cyclists and pedestrians who use this hill at risk. We need to remember that this Spruce/Church connector does more than provide fast emergency access to the Phase 4 neighbourhood, it will also add significantly to the number of cars and trucks travelling between the Village and Berry Point via Norwich Hill.
