Letter: Gun Club fire

Monday, December 10 2012

Regardless of one’s attitude, pro or con, to the Gun Club’s contretemps with its neighbours, one sympathizes with the members for the loss of their clubhouse to fire. Our fire chief has described the fire as “suspicious,” yet local news reported that subsequent investigation by experts could not pinpoint the origin, or cause, of the fire. Yet now there is a reward advertised for the “arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.” If anyone is to be arrested, then charged and subsequently convicted, there first has to be evidence of a crime. No such evidence, to my knowledge, has been brought to light. One can only assume, therefore, that – as usual – the public is being left in the dark.
