Letter: Lest we Forget

Tuesday, November 15 2016

To the woman who addressed me after the Gabriola Remembrance Day service.

I would like to apologize that my sons had a negative impact on your Remembrance Day service experience on Gabriola.

I am sorry that you feel children should be excluded from such an important and reverent worldwide remembering; that trying my best to educate my children and exposing them to a community committed to showing respect and remembrance was not appropriate in your sight. I can assure you I do not view attendance at this service as a playdate.

So that we are able to meet our different needs and reasons why we attend - I would offer a suggestion that next year when choosing a location we keep to different areas of the grounds.

As I will continue to bring my sons. Lest we forget.
