Letter: Long-term ferry parking

Tuesday, October 31 2017

So again I note the Gabriola Ferry parking lot is being used for long-term parking. Returning on the 11:00 p.m. ferry October 20, there were eleven vehicles left in public parking spaces, presumably overnight. So what are the rules, or are there any? One particularly noteworthy vehicle, a black SUV, was not even parked in a legitimate stall but instead was parked at the end of the row where vehicles swing around to pick up walk-ons. I noticed this particular vehicle was still illegally parked there at 2:00 p.m. the following afternoon.

I know there was some discussion and significant concerns about these unfair parking practices but I don’t see anything has happened, no new signage and no recourse for those who obviously take advantage of an unsupervised parking lot.
