Letter re: What Glorious Times article in Mar. 8 Sounder

The article’s author writes that Canadian women won the right to vote federally in 1918. I would like to remind the author that Robert Borden’s government only granted voting rights to white Canadian women. Some Canadian women of colour won the right to vote in the late 1940s, but Indigenous Canadian women did not win the right to vote in federal elections until 1960. When we erase the intersection of misogyny and racism, we exclude women of colour from the word “women.”
