Letter: Take all the potential vehicles into consideration when planning for ferry

Tuesday, October 31 2017

The Gabriola Ferry Advisory Committee (FAC) is having a meeting to discuss ferry parking and on the agenda they will be discussing the role of Taylor Bay Road as a parking space while ferry waiting, and instead are proposing to run the parking up South Road.

Mudge Island websites say that the island does not have a ferry service. This is incorrect , they use the Gabriola service to get back and forth. The population of Mudge is 200 and if the average vehicular numbers per family are standard then about 70 vehicles from Mudge are in use at the Gabriola Terminal. This impacts Gabriola residents, especially in the summer months.

I hope the FAC takes these extra vehicles into consideration when making plans for our overloads next summer .
