Letter: The new Fire Hall

Tuesday, May 21 2013

While those working on the project and in our community pat themselves on the back because the project is ahead of schedule, the people who live on Church Road can explain how this came about. Our noise bylaws I believe indicate a morning construction start time of 8 a.m. but the construction on the fire hall from the beginning, often began before 6:30 a.m. and always before 8 a.m. We have been subjected to loud music, foul language, heavy equipment noise, nail guns, dust and the continual beeping of a warning signal far sooner than the recognized start time.

A resident said that she spoke with one of our local heavy equipment operators working there to request he abide by the 8 a.m. start time; he ignored the request. While we all look forward to the project being completed on time and on budget, the residents of Church Road should have been given some consideration and the 8 a.m. start time adhered to over the past many months. A little consideration would have gone a long way in the Public Relations Department. With the better weather we have our windows and doors open and perhaps this letter will cause someone to take notice and change their attitude.

Sincerely,

~ Peri Smith
