Letter to the Editor - Regarding Colin Batty letter in Feb. 6 Sounder

Monday, February 13 2012

Mr. Batty’s letter, which refers to the Ratepayers’ “Plan B” fire hall proposal compared to the GFPID board’s $4 million-plus plan, indicates that “the questionable savings involved seem to be around $100,000.”
I’m not sure where he got his figure of $100,000 from, but he’s definitely out to lunch on that one.
The Ratepayers “Plan B” proposal would cost approximately $2 million, half of what the GFPID’s $4 million-plus plan would cost.
The savings would therefore be $2 million or more, not $100,000.
People deserve to know the facts if we’re going to start throwing numbers around, so please let’s just stick to what the facts are, rather than speculate.
