Letter: U.S. Election

Tuesday, November 1 2016

Even the mainstream media admits that the two establishment party presidential candidates in this election are the most disliked and untrusted in the history of America. Most Americans seem resigned to accept that Hillary Clinton is the lesser of the two evils.

The mainstream media is spending countless hours revelling in Trump’s personality defects and fear of what he might do as president, while ignoring the millions of people in faraway lands that have died from Hillary’s decisions to support every American war since Vietnam. Hillary is now calling for war with Russia over Syria (oil pipeline politics) and last year said this:

“I want the Iranians to know that if I’m president, we will attack Iran. In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them.” Hillary Clinton, Dartmouth College, July 3, 2015.

There is another choice. Americans aren’t trapped in a parliamentary system. They elect their president directly. Americans do have a choice to elect an intelligent woman of peace and environmental responsibility this time - Jill Stein of the Green Party.

In Jill Stein’s words: “When do we turn this around? The greater and lesser evil are not going to turn it around. They’re in a race to the bottom. If there’s any hope of getting out of here alive—and I don’t just mean at the end of the century, I mean in the next couple of decades—if we’re to have any hope of survival, we need to begin that turnaround now. It is magical thinking to believe the system is somehow going to fix itself when the unrelenting trend has been clearly established for decades.”
