Response to Green Party critics

Tuesday, May 5 2015

Dear Editor,

I am puzzled by the recent letters criticizing the Green Party for running a candidate, Paul Manly, when the NDP is running a perfectly good candidate, Sheila Malcolmson. In our political system we are voting for a party as well as the candidate, and after a lifetime of voting NDP, I’ve gone Green. If Stephen Lewis or Jack Layton were still there, I might stay with the NDP, but the Green Party is the only one that gives me any hope for the future at all. Party leadership is important as well as the individual candidate. Elizabeth May and Paul Manly are both people I have great respect for. I feel like I’m done settling for the NDP; I’m glad there is another option.
