Response to Jeremy Baker letter in April 5 Sounder

In reponse to Jeremy Baker's April 5 letter.

To the Editor,

Ordering new chicks every generation is literally unsustainable. Chicks are raised in industrial facilities, are shipped long distances, and must be paid for; this requires inputs of oil and money. Different folks might have different priorities, but it’s easy to see why some people don’t want to participate in this system.

Furthermore, Mr. Baker’s letter has quite an intriguing typo. Mr. Baker refers to me as “Ms. Kotasek,” but I am not, in fact, a woman. Surprise!
