Time to split the right

The BC Liberals have a new leader, Andrew Wilkinson.

In his opening speech to British Columbians, Wilkinson pointed out that the job of the BC Liberals, “is to drive the wedge between them [the BC NDP and BC Greens] and make sure they are more and more uncomfortable with each other and get ready for an election...That’s our job.”

First off, the job of elected officials should be to serve those who elect them.

Second, the BC Liberals are a coalition party, made up of the former Conservative Party and Social Credit parties.

The current system, which sees the NDP and Greens splitting the left vote, favours a united right.

If electoral reform happens, there will be just as much potential for splitting the right, leaving the BC Liberals to the pages of history books.
